2021 APENS Webinar Series

The National Consortium for Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID), in partnership with Human Kinetics, is creating a series of four webinars based on the Adapted Physical Education National Standards (APENS) foundation areas (i.e., Scientific Foundations, Planning and Implementation, Behavior and Education Foundation, and Professional Development).

The purpose of the APENS Webinar Project is to develop a series of four webinars, specific to APENS, that:

(a) Provide an overview of the purpose of APENS

(b) Provide an overview that increases awareness of the specific content knowledge addressed in each foundation area

(c) Increase awareness of how the APENS-specific content knowledge connects with quality APE service delivery

(d) How the foundation areas are represented on the exam

Call For Presenters

The NCPEID intends to launch the APENS webinar series in Fall 2021, and as such, seeking self-nominations for individuals interested who is in being an APENS Webinar Series presenter.

These presentations will be approximately 45 minutes in length and feature a pair of adapted physical education (APE) professionals – one higher education faculty member and one PK-12 practitioner delivering the webinar.

Within each webinar, presenters will:

(a) Provide an overview of the foundational area and corresponding standards for the APENS exam

(b) Present a minimum of at least two levels 4 statements from a majority of the standards in the foundational area (e.g., 3 of the 4 standards within the foundational area)

(c) Provide and explain multiple applications for each of the level 4 statements presented

Each webinar will conclude with a quiz over the content (i.e., Google Quiz created by presenters and APENS Committee) that will be used to provide the webinar attendee with feedback about their learning. Through the partnership with Human Kinetics, individuals who successfully complete the webinar and Google Quiz will earn one free continuing education unit (CEU) per webinar

Applicants are invited to submit a proposal for one of the APENS webinars that include:

(a) A description of the proposed webinar (250-word maximum)

(b) Webinar objectives

(c) Expected outcomes for webinar participants

(d) One targeted Level 4 statement and an exemplar of how the applicant(s) will illustrate this concept

Applicants will also be asked to submit a statement of fit that demonstrates their knowledge, ability, and cultural competence to address both level 4 and level 5 content across all standards in the foundation.
