William H. Hillman Distinguished Service Award

A written statement and vita needs to be provided that documents to what extent the nominee has contributed, through leadership roles, to adapted physical activity or recreation for individuals with disabilities.

Individuals nominated must have an exemplary professional service record as evidenced by the following indices:

  1. Elected or appointed service to NCPEID or other organizations that deal with persons with disabilities including membership on the board of directors, committees, or editorial boards.
  2. Service on editorial boards and/or reviewer of scholarly journals dealing with physical education/recreation for individuals with disabilities
  3. Service as a community volunteer involved with programs and/or athletic events for individuals with disabilities (i.e., Special Olympics, USABA, NWAA, etc.)
  4. Presentations before educational groups, conventions, media presentations, and other meetings held in the interest and promotion of physical education/recreation for individuals with disabilities.
